Today we decided to try Cobalt, located just under the bridge in Perdido Bay for a late lunch. Cosmos, in the many years that we have been coming to Orange Beach has never failed to delight our tastebuds. Owned by the same group as Cosmos of Orange Beach, Cobalt is a spiffy looking marina side restaurant that does not quite come up to par as its' sister restaurant, Cosmos. Although I enjoyed the location - beach and marina side - and the decor was pleasant and not overdone, I am not sure that I will put Cobalt in my plans as a must eat/visit location for my next Orange Beach trip which is completely different from our plans for Cosmos which is always on our must eat/visit list when in Orange Beach. The caramelized onions brought an odd sweet note to this otherwise unmemorable burger. The burger though cooked as ordered to a medium was dry, bland, and unremarkable. It came loaded with lettuce, tomato, garlic aioli, bacon, and blue cheese crumbles, and caramelized onions accompanied with a dill pickle spear and a dirty rice which had hints of heat and diced andouille sausage in it.

This was a late lunch on Saturday and really not in the mood for a full course meal this early in the day, so I ordered what I considered to be a safe choice of their signature burger - The Cobalt Burger. We were quickly seated and drink order was taken. The decor is very spiffy with a neat aquarium tank just off the main hosting area. Cobalt is a marina side restaurant located just up under the bridge at Perdido Beach. Having made the sister restaurant of Cosmos in Orange Beach a must hit every time we go to the Orange Beach area, we were just a little disappointed in our first visit to Cobalt.
